Tech Day

Events > 2016-2017 > Term 3

Tech Week ran from April 22nd - 28th. Events were held all over the country to mark the event. Sixth Class held a Tech Day in the school on Thurs. April 27th. They created digital interactive projects showcasing how technology aids us in our lives today. The students used a variety of devices, software and websites in their presentations. From laptops to iPads, Skype to Google Hangout, instant messaging to coding, PowerPoint to Google Slides, Scratch animations to YouTube videos, ActivExpression quizzes to Google Forms, virtual reality glasses to green screens, robotics to CGI, many areas of IT were explored. Students from first to fifth class really enjoyed the interactive presentations while parents and teachers were amazed at the skills and knowledge demonstrated by our Sixth Class students. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all involved.

Tech Day will form part of our submission for our sixth STEM 'Discover Science and Maths Award'.

Parents and Grandparents enjoying Tech Day

Students, teachers and parents enjoyed travelling the world through the green screen. We basked in the sun on a tropical island, ventured into outer space, wrapped up warm on the set of Frozen, went disco dancing, ventured into the jungle, explored an enchanted castle, bumped into a few celebrities along the way and visited the Wild West! And all before 3 o'clock! It was a very busy day!

Sophie and Róisín created the Scratch projects below for their topic 'Creative Code'
