After school Activities

In September Ms Bohan and Ms Mitchell set up Scoil Mhuire's third Scratch Club for children in Sixth Class. 28 students signed up for the class and they have been given a taste of computer programming using the Scratch software.

Scratch is a free graphical programming language which makes it easy for children to create their own interactive stories, animations, games, music and art. To create a script of code you simply snap together graphical blocks, much like building blocks or puzzle pieces.

Students will create projects which will be entered into the Scratch Ireland Competition in February. Click here to view the projects which were submitted last year.

EU Code Week

EU Code week ran from October 10th to 18th. During this week the children from Scratch Club taught the other sixth class pupils how to code.

During International Code Week in December 2014 children from Scratch Club took part in 'Hour of Code' and featured on the RTÉ news.

The above project was created by Charlotte, Sophie and Jessica for Science Fair 2015.
