This year Scoil Mhuire is working towards its sixth Green Flag. This flag will be awarded for Global Citizenship. So far this year the Green School Committe have engeaged in a number of activities to help the school achieve this flag. They surveyed children in the school to find out which countries they, their parents or grandparents come from. There are over 30 nationalities in our school. Sixth Class created a tree of flags to represent the nationalities.

The Green School committee have been busy visiting every class in the school to tell them about Global Citizenship. They took photos of children in the school who come from different cultures and nationalities and they created a Animoto presentation. They showed this to the classes which they visited to explain what Global Citizenship is.

The Green School committee, under the guidance of Mrs Molly and Ms O'Donnell, held an Intercultural Day on Thursday May 4th. Parents from many different nationalities came into school and set up stalls in the hall. Students got to visit the stalls to taste food, look at photos and videos and see textiles, instruments and objects from the different countries. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and a wonderful experience for students. Thank you to all the parents to volunteered their time to come in or sent in food on the day.
