Growing Sunflowers

School Garden

To mark the opening of the new outdoor classroom, Ms McKenna held a sunflower growing competition. Every student in the school, along with teachers, planted a sunflower and cared for it in their classroom. The three tallest sunflowers in each class were transplanted into larger pots and when they were strong enough they were planted in the school garden. All other sunflowers where taken home to be cared for. Mariya Martin in Ms. O'Connor's Sixth Class managed to grow the tallest sunflower in our garden. It measured 1.6m on the day of the summer holidays. While we were on summer holidays all our sunflowers in the garden bloomed. Take a look at the photos below.
