Our first flag

We were awarded our first green flag in May 2007. The theme was Litter and Waste. We had to make sure the whole school was recycling, reducing and re-using as many materials as possible.
We made dramatic reductions in the amount of waste going into our black bins, reducing three large bins down to one a week. Many classes used recycled materials in Art and Craft and other lessons.

The Committee with members from all classes worked very hard to keep their rooms, corridors and yards clean and litter free. Fruit bins were placed in each yard for fruit waste for composting. We have three composters in our school.

Committee members from 4th to 6th, organised a number of clean ups of the local area. The Lucan Gazette featured pictures of these.
